ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS:

a.     Do nothing (keep current approach) not recommended

Cabinet agree not to approve this draft housing strategy for formal consultation and continue with the existing housing strategy (2022-2026)

b.      Not to undertake consultation and move directly to adoption – Not recommended

This option would reduce opportunities for stakeholder engagement in the development of the strategy and limit opportunities to test and refine the proposed themes and priorities.

c.      Cabinet agrees to begin formal public consultation on the draft housing strategy 2027-2032 – Recommended

This option is recommended as it enables the Council to test the proposed strategic themes and priorities with residents, tenants, partners and stakeholders before the strategy is finalised and brought back to Cabinet for adoption.
