Purpose

Following initial consideration by Council,
Cabinet will approve the Council’s final proposals for
submission to Government in respect of the reorganisation of local
government in Suffolk.

Decision

Resolved:
 
That, in respect of the Government’s
invitation to submit final proposals in respect of local government
reorganisation:
                                     
1.       the views of Council
at its meeting on 23 September 2025 be noted;
 
2.       the content of the
draft Case for Change attached at Appendix A to Report number:
CAB/WS/25/043, be noted and approved;
 
3.       the content of the
draft Unmodified Submission to Secretary of State attached at
Appendix B to Report number: CAB/WS/25/043, be noted and approved;
and
 
4.       the Chief Executive
be authorised, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, to
finalise and submit the Case for Change and Unmodified Submission
to Government by its deadline of 26 September 2025.
 
(Due to ensuring
the Case for Change (Appendix A) and Unmodified Submission to
Secretary of State (Appendix B) are submitted by the required
deadline of 26 September 2025, with the agreement of the Chair of
the Overview and Scrutiny (O&S) Committee, the call-in
procedure for this item has been suspended. The Chair of the
O&S Committee is satisfied that the decision proposed was
reasonable in all the circumstances and to it being treated as a
matter of urgency).
