Purpose

Award of contract for the Regent Street,
Haymarket and Piccadilly Circus Urban Design and Public Realm
design commission (RIBA Stages 1 to 3).

Decision

Summary of Decision: The Leader of the
Council has approved the award of a contract for the Urban Design
and Public Realm for Regent Street, Haymarket and Piccadilly Circus
to Allies and Morrison LLP for RIBA Stages 1 to 3, totalling
£1,627,595; and delegated authority to the Executive Director
for Environment and Communities to instruct further RIBA Stages
beyond RIBA Stage 3, subject to approval of additional funding
totalling up to £1,364,268.  
 
Reasons for Decision: Regent Street,
Haymarket and Piccadilly Circus programme.  The Partners
require the knowledge and expertise of a highly qualified and
experienced design team, including urban and public realm design to
develop the proposals for these streets to support the public
engagement over the next two years and inform any decision making
on a final public realm scheme to implement.
