Purpose
Purchase of 9 bedroom property in Catford to
provide supported accommodation to care leavers.
Decision
Summary of Decision: The Cabinet Member
for Finance and Council Reform has approved the acquisition of a
nine-bedroom freehold property in Catford, London Borough of
Lewisham, for the purpose of accommodation for care leavers. He has
also approved the additional expenditure as set out in the Appendix
to the exempt
Part B Report to cover stamp duty, fees,
immediate repair requirements and
feasibility work for refurbishment,
remodelling or rebuild, pending option
appraisal and decisions, and delegated
approval of any non-material amendments to the heads of terms to
the Executive Director of Finance and Resources.
Reason for Decision: Children’s
Services intends to use the property to ensure care leavers have
access to more suitable supported accommodation offers on their
journey to independence. The property will be integrated into the
pre-existing young
person’s pathway and secured for care
leavers’ use. This will ensure that young people have access
to the right support at the right time to enable them to have lives
that are as safe, fulfilling, healthy and independent as
possible.
