Decision
Summary of Decision: The Cabinet Member
for Streets has approved the retention of designated parking pays
for dockless bikes and e-scooters under a Traffic Management order,
and delegated authority to the Executive Director of Environment
and Communities to vary the existing collaboration agreements with
dockless bike operators where necessary.
Reasons for Decision: At present,
designating parking bays for micromobility rental vehicles remains
the most viable option for managing dockless bike hire effectively.
Therefore, the bay-based approach is being adopted on a permanent
basis to ensure safety of individuals on our streets and access to
alternative greener transport modes for residents. Scheme costs to
date have been fully recovered from providers and are anticipated
to be cost neutral going forward.
