Decision
Summary of Decision: The Cabinet Member
for Finance and Council Reform has taken the decision to approve
the award of a contract for essential repairs at Barrow Hill
Primary School to Logan Construction (South East) Ltd (Companies
House registration no. 03167858) under the terms of the capital
minor works projects within the Corporate Property estate framework
agreement with the Council dated 3 April 2024 for a period of
approximately six months to complete for the estimated sum of
£1,583,283.71 (Excluding VAT), £1,899,940.45 (including
VAT).
Reason for Decision: Due to the age of
the building at Barrow Hill, the masonry and stonework have started
to fail in some areas and it was identified that the repairs would
need to be carried out to make the building safe. Consequently,
following high winds in the latter part of 2024, where masonry fell
from the building, emergency scaffolding was erected to protect
against further falling debris and to allow a scope of works to be
drafted. Atkins Realis were instructed to complete a
tender analysis on the stone / masonry works and timber window
repairs. The tender process was carried out by the Council’s
main contracting partner Logan Construction Limited.
