Purchase of 8 bedroom property in Northwood,
LB Hillingdon to provide supported accommodation to care
leavers.

Decision

Summary of Decision: The Cabinet Member
for Finance and Council Reform has approved the acquisition of a
freehold property in Northwood, London Borough of Hillingdon, for
the purpose of in-house supported accommodation provision for care
leavers. He has approved the additional expenditure as set out in
the exempt Part B Report to cover stamp duty, fees, immediate
repair requirements and feasibility work for refurbishment,
remodelling or rebuild, pending option appraisal and decisions and
delegated approval of any non-material amendments to the heads of
terms to the Executive Director of Finance and Resources.?
 
Reason for Decision: Care leavers are
entitled to ongoing help and support from Children’s services
after they leave care. All care leavers in the City of Westminster
will receive social housing once they are ready to live
independently. As an in-house asset, the property can support
savings targets beyond the first placements, positively
contributing to a needed expansion of in-house
provision.
