Purpose

The Cabinet Member will consider the
introduction of a charge when NNDR ratepayers choose to pay the
Council using a commercial credit or debit card.

Decision

Summary of Decision: The Cabinet Member
for Finance and Council Reform has taken the decision to approve
the charge to NNDR ratepayers using a commercial credit card to be
based on the average charge fee for the whole population of 2.48%;
and to approve the charge to NNDR ratepayers using a commercial
debit card to be based on the average charge fee for the whole
population of 0.87%.
 
Reason for Decision: The decision to
introduce a recoverable charge on commercial card payments for NNDR
is necessary to ensure that the Council recovers the higher
transaction costs associated with these payment methods. Commercial
cards incur significantly higher processing fees which are
currently absorbed by the Council. Introducing a charge aligns with
legislation and allows the Council to protect public
funds.
