Purpose

Cabinet will consider the acquisition of a freehold property for use as temporary accommodation.

Decision

Cabinet approved the following recommendations:

• Agree in principle to a three-year lease of the property in Bayswater W2 on the principal terms set out in the confidential Part B Report.
• Delegate authority to the Executive Director of Finance and Resources, following consultation with the Cabinet Member for Finance and Council Reform, to agree the detailed terms of the lease contract, following due diligence, including agreement on the lease and any further legal agreements.

Reasons for Decision:

The provision of emergency accommodation for homeless households in Westminster is required to meet the Council’s statutory obligations and the properties in W2 provide a resource to meet this need.
