Decision

Summary of
Decision
The Cabinet Member for Housing Services has
approved the award of five Second Source contracts for a period of
three years commencing from November 2024 to November 2027, with
the option to extend by an additional year.

Reasons for
Decision
Repairs remains a priority area within Housing
Services and the volume of work has increased year-on-year with
demand in the past 12 months increasing by 16 per cent. The Council
is able to engage additional contractor capacity where needed, and
undertook a review of trades resulting in a high volume of work
orders being issued. This intelligence has formed the basis for the
contracts that have been procured, and offers the opportunity to
engage with SMEs, gives the Council more control over the works and
enables the Council to respond to residents’ feedback on over
dependence on one contractor.
