The Health Select Committee reviews and scrutinises health, adult social care, and public health services in Wiltshire. It examines any significant changes to service provision, including those jointly commissioned or delivered by the council. The committee also participates in cross-boundary scrutiny of health services with other local authorities and oversees the council's role in health and wellbeing.

Under the Local Authority (Public Health, Health and Wellbeing Boards and Health Scrutiny) Regulations 2013, the committee has specific powers related to health scrutiny. While the process for referring proposed NHS service changes to the Secretary of State has been updated, the committee plays a role in the oversight of these services.
