To proceed with the proposed use of
ring-fenced public health grant funding.
Reasons for the decision
Through the ring-fenced Public Health grant,
the RBWM Public Health team continues to fund initiatives that
support the health and wellbeing of residents. A particular reason
for concern currently is rising rates of obesity in the borough and
the associated risks for chronic disease and quality of life. We
have therefore worked closely with the Maidenhead PCN - who is
uniquely positioned as the primary care provider in Maidenhead to
identify residents ‘at risk,’ refer to an appropriate
and supportive provision, deliver a comprehensive weight management
service and maintain a valid and reliable data trail to assess
impacts on primary outcomes (i.e. weight loss). We have therefore
agreed a service which should benefit Maidenhead’s population
by supporting healthy weight loss and promote wellbeing.
