Content
To award the Highways Maintenance contract to
the winning bidder based on a full and open tender process with
submissions evaluated and moderated in line with the criteria set
out. The award being for an initial period of 7 years with the
opportunity to extend twice (five years then 2 years) beyond this
with the contract commencing on April 1st 2026.
Reasons for the decision
Existing contract expires on March 31st 2026
and a new contract is required to provide support to the council in
delivering statutory services on the maintenance of the highway and
related infrastructure including winter services.
Alternative options considered
These services are required activities for the
council and therefore a ‘do nothing’ option is not
available. At the time of the initial decision to go to tender, all
options were considered with the open tender route chosen and
approved by cabinet.
