Decision

Agree a variation to the justice deed of the Inter Authority Agreement currently held between The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Slough Borough Council and Bracknell Forest Council

Reasons for the decision

The Inter Authority Agreement currently agrees for all three East Berkshire local authorities to work collaboratively and for Bracknell Forest to lead commissioning for the Integrated Sexual Health Service. The deed of variation will enable Bracknell Forest to lead commissioning for the NHS Health Check and LARC procurement and for all three authorities to work together for strategic oversight.

Enabling Bracknell Forest to lead the procurement process, alleviates pressure from RBWM capacity and allows for greater capacity for strategic planning and innovation for the programmes. Working collaboratively, pools resources and builds efficiencies, particularly where residents may be registered with GP practices across each local authority, therefore their access to NHS Health Checks and LARC will sit with those GP surgeries and the commissioning authority.

Alternative options considered

Do nothing. This option is not feasible as NHS Health Checks are a mandatory provision for all Local Authorities.

Re-commissioning the services in RBWM. This was rejected to allow for greater capacity in RBWM.
