Purpose

To provide an update on Wrexham’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2029.

Decision

RESOLVED – That the Executive Board continue to demonstrate their full support for Wrexham's bid to become UK City of Culture 2029.

Reasons for Decision

(i) Full support from Members is required in order to demonstrate to DCMS that there is unity for the bid across WCBC. This is particularly important as the winning city will have gone through an election process prior to 2029 and DCMS are keen to know that any change in the administration will not lead to a change of heart.

(ii) DCMS monitor the level of digital engagement in relation to the bid, and Member support in encouraging residents to participate will be vital to success in the bidding process.
