Decision

RESOLVED –

(i)       That the updated position regarding the proposed relocation of the Cunliffe Day Service and the continued requirement to identify a fit for purpose facility be noted.

(ii)      That the transfer of Acton Resource Centre from Economy and Planning to Social Care to support the delivery and future operation of the specialist Day Service and associated provision be approved.

(iii)     That the development of a revised proposal for Acton Resource Centre, including the exploration of an extension and phased approach to enable relocation and co-location of community use, informed by feedback to date and further targeted engagement be supported.

(iv)     That this matter be dealt with as an urgent item of business in   accordance with Section 5 (Rule 5.8.10(m)) of the Council’s Constitution.

Reasons for Decisions

(i) To ensure the Council can continue to meet the needs of individuals with complex needs by providing a modern, safe and suitable Day Service for those people requiring centre-based care and support.

(ii) To enable the progression of a balanced and sustainable solution that considers both specialist service requirements and the needs of the local community, informed by further engagement and evidence.

(iii) To enable the project to move quickly with the procurement exercise for Phase One of works at Acton Resource centre. There is a risk that any delay could impact on the ability to complete the works within this financial year, which could impact on availability of funding. In addition, any delay would have an impact on the overall project timeline for housing development scheme for Rhosddu Road.
