Financial Performance and Budget
A key item on the agenda is the consideration of the Monitoring Report for the 12 months to 31 March 2026 and the Proposed Budget for 2026/27. This report, prepared by the Director of Finance, details the cash income and expenditure for the Melrose Common Good Fund. For the year ending 31 March 2026, the fund is reported to have a surplus of £8,206. The report also includes a draft budget for the financial year 2026/27 and forecasts for the subsequent two years.
The report highlights that the income received from the Aegon Asset Management Investment Fund for the year to 31 March 2026 was £834, representing a return of 5.34%, which outperformed the target of 5%. The value of this investment fund at 31 March 2026 was £15,602, showing an unrealised gain of £525. This marks an improvement from the previous year, when the fund experienced an unrealised loss of £664. The report notes that We continue to see volatility in investment markets generally due to the geopolitical landscape and rapidly changing conflicts which are impacting economic conditions.
