Approval to Award Contract for Fire Doors and Works
A key item on the agenda was the approval to award a contract valued at £12,500,000 plus inflation for a programme of fire-rated door replacements and associated fire safety works within Haringey Council's housing stock. This programme includes flat entrance doors, communal doors, and riser/service cupboard doors, as well as passive fire safety works and decorations. This development includes two fully wheelchair accessible homes, to be let at social rent. Detailed planning permission had been submitted for the project. The report also sought approval for the appropriation of the land for planning purposes to facilitate the development process, allowing the Council to override third-party interests and rights, subject to engagement with potential claimants. The proposed buildings are designed to Passivhaus principles to achieve high levels of energy efficiency, incorporating measures such as triple-glazed windows, photovoltaic panels, and air source heat pumps. The scheme aims to achieve Passivhaus Low Energy Building status. The development is intended to contribute to the Council's commitment to building new council homes and supporting the GLA 21-26 Affordable Homes Programme. A formal tender process had been undertaken via the London Construction Programme (LCP) Framework Lot 1.1, with six submissions received.
