The Warminster Area Board met on Thursday 2 July 2026 to discuss a range of community matters, including funding applications for local projects, highway improvements, and updates from key partners. The agenda also included the election of a Chair and Vice-Chair for the upcoming year.

Appointments and Governance

The board was scheduled to elect a Chair and Vice-Chair for the 2026/27 term. Following these elections, the agenda included the appointment of lead members to various outside bodies and working groups, including a lead member for the Local Highways and Footpath Improvement Group (LHFIG). The terms of reference for the LHFIG were also to be noted.

Community Funding Applications

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to considering applications for Area Board funding. The board had remaining budgets of £21,138.00 for Community Area Grants, £7,500.00 for Older and Vulnerable People Grants, and £17,113.00 for Young People Grants.

Several applications were scheduled for review:

• Warminster Community Orchard requested £2,500.00 for the installation of community orchard information boards.
• Corsley Reading Room sought £690.00 to update the heating in their village hall.
• Codford Village Hall applied for £1,500.00 towards the creation of a community workshop, which would involve the purchase of a shipping container for storage.
• Warminster Bowling Club requested £3,000.00 towards the purchase of a new equipment storage shed.
• Horningsham Village Hall applied for £1,957.00 towards the purchase of a new cooker and warming oven.
• Warminster Scout Group requested £750.00 for the replacement of an aging and leaking water pipe.
• Warminster youth club submitted two applications: £5,000.00 for a SEN youth club and £5,000.00 for core costs of their youth club.

Local Highways and Footpath Improvements

The board was to receive and consider recommendations from the Local Highways and Footpath Improvement Group (LHFIG) meeting held on 18 June 2026. The LHFIG acts as an advisory body, making recommendations to the Area Board for approval on small-scale transport schemes, pedestrian and cycle improvements, traffic signing, road markings, speed limits, waiting restrictions, footpath improvements, drainage, street lighting, and traffic management measures. The minutes from the LHFIG meeting were provided for review.

Partner Updates

Several key partners were scheduled to provide updates to the board:

• Wiltshire Police were to present their Spring 2026 update, including a quarterly report on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), and discuss neighbourhood policing priorities and activities.
• Community First was to provide their June 2026 monthly update, likely covering their work with the voluntary and community sector.
• Wessex Community Action was expected to present a briefing note and call to action regarding the pressures affecting the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector.
• Connect to Work Programme and Skills Bootcamps were to be presented, outlining opportunities for employment and retraining.
• Wiltshire Faith Communities Network was to provide an update on its development and objectives.
• The Wiltshire Community Lottery was scheduled for a launch presentation.
• Health and Wellbeing Warminster was to provide an update, including information on the relocation of the mobile breast screening service and the reinstatement of a third pharmacy in Warminster.
• Updates were also expected from Town and Parish Councils.

Other Business

The agenda also included a Community Spotlight segment for highlighting positive community initiatives or feedback from previous grant awards. An Ask your Area Board session was scheduled for public questions. The board was also to receive updates on the Chairman's actions and any ongoing action plans. A specific Local Item concerning breast screening in Warminster was also listed for discussion.
