The Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee of Shropshire Council met on Thursday 14 May 2026 to elect its Chair and Vice-Chair for the forthcoming municipal year and to appoint members to the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Councillor Bernie Bentick was elected Chair, and Councillor Dawn Husemann was appointed Vice-Chair.

Election of Chairman

Councillor Bernie Bentick was elected as the Chairman of the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee for the upcoming municipal year. This decision was made following a proposal and secondment, and was duly resolved by the committee.

Appointment of Vice-Chairman

Councillor Dawn Husemann was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee for the forthcoming municipal year. This appointment was also made following a proposal and secondment, and was duly resolved by the committee.

Appointment of Members and Co-optees to the Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee

The committee resolved to appoint Councillor Bernie Bentick as a member of the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Additionally, the membership of Councillors Dawn Husemann and Colin Stanford, along with co-opted members Lynn Cawley, Anne Mitchell, and David Sandbach, was confirmed for this joint committee.

Apologies for Absence

Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Colin Stanford. Councillor Nigel Lumby attended the meeting as a substitute for Councillor Stanford.
