The Pension Fund Committee of Oxfordshire Council was scheduled to meet on Tuesday 12 May 2026. The meeting's agenda included the election of a Chair and Deputy Chair for the upcoming council year, alongside a review of declarations of interest.
Election of Chair and Deputy Chair
The committee was scheduled to elect a Chair and a Deputy Chair for the 2026/27 council year. The report pack outlined the procedures for declaring interests, including disclosable pecuniary interests and other registrable interests, in accordance with the Members' Code of Conduct. This code requires members to serve the public interest and avoid situations that could question their honesty and integrity.
Declarations of Interest
A significant portion of the agenda was dedicated to the declaration of interests by councillors. The report pack detailed the types of interests that must be declared, including those related to employment, sponsorship, contracts, land, licenses, corporate tenancies, and securities. It also specified that interests of a spouse, civil partner, or person living with the member as husband or wife or civil partner must be declared. The guidance emphasised that if a councillor has a disclosable pecuniary interest, they must not participate in discussion or voting on the relevant item and must withdraw from the meeting. The code also addresses other registrable interests
and non-registrable interests,
outlining tests to determine if a member should remain in the meeting after declaring an interest, particularly if the matter affects their financial interest or well-being to a greater extent than the majority of inhabitants.
