The Audit & Governance Committee of Oxfordshire Council was scheduled to meet on Tuesday 12 May 2026. The agenda for the meeting included the election of a Chair and Deputy Chair for the upcoming council year, as well as a review of declarations of interest.
Election of Chair and Deputy Chair
The committee was scheduled to elect a Chair and Deputy Chair for the 2026/27 council year. The report pack outlines the procedures for these elections.
Declarations of Interest
The meeting agenda included a section for councillors to declare any disclosable pecuniary interests. The report pack provides a detailed explanation of what constitutes a disclosable pecuniary interest, including those of a member's spouse or civil partner. It also outlines the process for declaring other registrable and non-registrable interests, and the implications for participation in discussions and voting. The guidance states that members must declare interests that relate to their employment, sponsorship, contracts, land, licenses, corporate tenancies, and securities. It also covers interests in bodies exercising public functions, those directed to charitable purposes, or those influencing public opinion or policy. The report pack clarifies that if a matter affects a member's financial interest or wellbeing to a greater extent than the majority of inhabitants in the affected ward, and a reasonable member of the public would believe it would affect their view of the wider public interest, they may need to withdraw from the meeting.
