Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Tunbridge Wells and are not the council. About us
The Planning Committee of Tunbridge Wells Council met on Wednesday 22 July 2026, where they approved an application for a new driveway and parking area at 20 Summervale Road. The committee also noted a list of appeal decisions made between June and July 2026.
20 Summervale Road, Royal Tunbridge Wells
The committee granted planning permission for alterations to the front garden of 20 Summervale Road to create a driveway and vehicular access. This involved dropping the kerb to the front of the property and excavating the garden to create space for two vehicles, surfaced with permeable hard standing. The proposal was recommended for approval as it was considered to be in keeping with the character of the area, with no identified harm to residential amenities. The decision was made unanimously.
Appeal Decisions for Noting
The committee noted a list of appeal decisions made between 12 June and 14 July 2026. These included five dismissed appeals and one allowed appeal. The dismissed appeals were for:
- Variation of condition for changing timber windows to UPVC at 11A Little Mount Sion.
- Retrospective application for a roller shutter at Vape Station, 118 London Road, Southborough.
- Demolition of a garage and flat and construction of two semi-detached dwellings at Porters Lodge, Ferndale Close.
- Retrospective application for the stationing of a shepherd hut as holiday accommodation at The Mill House, Powder Mill Lane, Southborough.
- An advertisement for an illuminated small format advertising display at Highgate Service Station, Rye Road, Hawkhurst, which was allowed.
