The Planning Policy Advisory Panel recommended two areas for designation as Local Areas of Special Character (LASC) to Cabinet for consultation. The meeting also noted the attendance of a reserve member and the absence of declarations of interest or public questions.

Assessment of possible Local Areas of Special Character (LASC)

The Panel considered a report assessing two areas for potential designation as Local Areas of Special Character (LASC). These assessments were conducted against criteria previously approved by Cabinet on 14 September 2023. Following a presentation on the assessment, councillors engaged in a discussion and asked questions. The Panel resolved to recommend to Cabinet that these two areas be approved for the purpose of undertaking consultation. The outcome of this consultation will be reported back to the Panel and Cabinet.

The meeting was attended by Councillor Marilyn Ashton (Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Planning & Regeneration), who chaired the meeting, alongside Councillors Christopher Baxter, Stephen Greek (Portfolio Holder for Performance, Communications & Customer Experience), Nitin Parekh, Varsha Parmar, David Perry (Leader of the Labour Group), and Zak Wagman. Councillor Asif Hussain was noted as having sent apologies.
