The Licensing Sub-Committee of Doncaster Council met on Friday 5 June 2026 to review a previous decision to revoke a Hackney and Private Hire Drivers Licence. The committee unanimously decided to uphold its original decision to revoke the licence.
Review of Hackney and Private Hire Drivers Licence Revocation
The Licensing Sub-Committee upheld its previous decision from October 2025 to revoke an individual's Hackney and Private Hire Drivers Licence. This decision was made in advance of the individual's appeal proceeding to trial. The committee reiterated the reasons stated in the original Decision Record, concluding that the individual was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence. The meeting was held in private session, with the public and press excluded, as the report contained exempt information relating to an individual, as defined by Paragraph 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act, 19721.
The committee, chaired by Councillor Craig Ward, with Councillor Gerald Squire as Vice-Chair, and also including Councillors Nick Allen and Howard Rimmer, considered a report detailing the background to the review. A Legal Officer provided an overview of the case, and members of the committee engaged in a thorough discussion, asking questions of the Legal Officer. The decision to uphold the revocation was unanimous.
