The Overview and Scrutiny Committee of Haringey Council is scheduled to meet on Monday 22 June 2026. The meeting's agenda includes discussions on the committee's work plan for the upcoming year, the appointment of new co-opted members, and a review of issues arising from the previous year's work.
Work Programme and Future Planning
A significant portion of the meeting is dedicated to shaping the committee's future activities. The committee will consider issues that arose from the previous year's work plan, as detailed in the report Consideration of ongoing issues arising from the 2025/26 Overview & Scrutiny Committee work plan
1. This includes reviewing the outcomes of completed scrutiny reviews, such as those on the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls and the Provision of Services for Children Under One Year Old. The committee will also discuss ongoing or outstanding items from the previous year, including concerns raised about group-based child sexual abuse and the significant write-off of parking debts. A community consultation event, the 'Scrutiny Café', is also scheduled to gather local views for the new work plan. The committee will also consider an initial draft work plan for 2026/27, outlining potential agenda items for future meetings.
Appointments to Scrutiny Panels
The committee is set to formally approve the appointment of several new members to its various scrutiny panels. This includes seeking approval for the appointment of two Parent Governor representatives, Camilla Borthwick-Fox and Christine Cordon, as voting co-opted members to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Children & Young People's Scrutiny Panel, as outlined in the report Appointment of Parent Governor representatives
2. Additionally, the committee will consider appointing Amanda Bernard, Chair of SENDPower, to the Children and Young People's Scrutiny Panel, and Helena Kania, who has expertise in the health sector, to the Adults and Health Scrutiny Panel, as detailed in the report Appointment of non-voting co-opted Members
3. These appointments are intended to bring additional expertise and external challenge to the scrutiny process.
Review of Previous Minutes and Committee Structure
The meeting will also involve the formal approval of minutes from previous meetings held on 11th March 2026 and 26th March 2026. Furthermore, the committee will receive and note the minutes from various Scrutiny Panels, including those for Adults & Health, Culture, Community Safety & Environment, Children & Young People's, and Housing, Planning & Development. The committee will also be asked to note its own membership and terms of reference.
