Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Enfield and are not the council. About us
The Safer Neighbourhood Board was scheduled to discuss MOPAC funding and strategies for effective communication with the police. The meeting's agenda also included a review of feedback received and the board's work programme for the upcoming year.
MOPAC Funding
The board was scheduled to oversee the allocation and impact of projects funded by the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC). This included a discussion on the application process for new funding, which was open from 30th March to 30th May 2026. The report pack noted that the total funding available was approximately £17,000, and there was a suggestion to consider lowering the maximum bid amount to between £3,000 and £4,000 to ensure a more equitable distribution across community initiatives and charities. The importance of evaluating previously funded projects was also highlighted.
Effective Communication with Police
A key item on the agenda was to discuss how to improve communication between residents and the police. The aim was to promote meaningful engagement and identify areas for improvement in the relationship between the community and law enforcement.
Feedback Review
The board was scheduled to discuss and review feedback that had been received from responses to a form. This would allow for an examination of community concerns and suggestions.
Work Programme 2026/27
The board was set to note its work programme for the 2026/27 period. This programme outlined key areas of focus for future meetings, including homelessness and the street population, young people's safety, CCTV monitoring, town centre safety, and a review of the Police Trust and Confidence Report. The programme also included a review of board membership and elections for the Chair and Vice-Chairs for the 2027/28 term.
Dates of Future Meetings
The dates for future Safer Neighbourhood Board meetings were scheduled to be noted: Monday 16 November 2026, Monday 11 January 2027, and Monday 12 April 2027.
