The Sutton South, Cheam and Belmont Local Committee was scheduled to discuss a range of community initiatives and local projects. Belmont Levelling Up Fund Rail Project
Officers and representatives from Network Rail were scheduled to provide an update on the Belmont Levelling Up Fund Rail Improvement Project. This project is part of a wider initiative to enhance rail infrastructure in the Belmont area.
Funding Update - Neighbourhood Fund
An update was scheduled regarding the Neighbourhood Fund. This fund, which is supported by developer contributions and the council, aims to support projects that address local development needs. These can include improvements to community facilities, parks, and playgrounds, as well as funding for community programmes. Local charities, voluntary organisations, residents' associations, and community groups are eligible to apply for this funding.
Community Showcase: The Hello Club
Tim, the Chair of The Hello Club, was expected to present on the various activities the organisation provides for its members.
Community Showcase: Cheam Climate Action
A group of community-minded individuals known as Cheam Climate Action were scheduled to present. This group is focused on local climate action and planned to deliver screenings of The People's Emergency Briefing on the Climate Crisis
in Autumn 2026.
Boosting Public Engagement and Communications
An interactive session was planned to gather feedback from attendees on how to improve engagement and attendance at Local Committee meetings. This item also aimed to explore more effective methods for communicating information about these meetings to the wider community.
Public Questions
This agenda item provided an opportunity for members of the public to raise questions concerning local issues. The process for submitting questions, including deadlines for written responses, was outlined.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting
The committee was scheduled to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, which was held on 11 June 2026.
Any Urgent Business
The Chair had the discretion to consider any items deemed urgent due to special circumstances, in accordance with Section 100B(4) of the Local Government Act 1972.
