The Overview and Scrutiny Committee of Rushmoor Council is scheduled to consider updates on policing and community safety, as well as review the committee's work plan for the upcoming municipal year. The meeting will also note recent appointments to the committee.
Policing and Community Safety
An update is scheduled to be received from Chief Inspector Alex Reading of Hampshire Police and David Lipscombe, Community Safety Manager, concerning current issues, positive developments, and challenges within the policing and community safety sector across the borough. The Portfolio Holder for Pride in Place and Neighbourhood Services, Councillor Christine Guinness, has been invited to attend this part of the meeting. A presentation on community safety is attached for reference, with the policing presentation to be shared at a later date.
Work Plan
The committee is scheduled to consider its Work Plan for the 2026/27 Municipal Year.
Appointments
The committee is scheduled to note two appointments. Firstly, Councillor Becky Williams will be appointed as a Member of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, replacing Councillor Sarah Spall for the remainder of the 2026/27 Municipal Year. This appointment has been made by the Leader of the Council in accordance with Standing Orders and arrangements to ensure political balance. Secondly, Councillor Sarah Spall is scheduled to be appointed as a Standing Deputy of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, filling a vacancy for the Labour Group for the remainder of the 2026/27 Municipal Year, also made by the Leader of the Council in accordance with Standing Orders and political balance arrangements.
