Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Haringey and are not the council. About us
The Standards Committee of Haringey Council is scheduled to consider proposed changes to the Council's Constitution regarding the reform of planning committees. The committee will also discuss filming at meetings and receive updates on the committee's work programme.
Reform of Planning Committees
A key item on the agenda is the proposed reform of planning committees, which would involve changes to the Council's Constitution. This is in response to the Government's introduction of a national scheme of delegation for planning and related applications, which will take effect from 31 October 2026. The report, authorised by Rob Krzyszowski, Director of Built Environment & Highways, outlines the need to implement these delegations to ensure the council makes decisions in accordance with the new legislation. The committee is expected to consider and agree the proposed changes to the Constitution and recommend their adoption by Full Council on 12 October 2026. The report notes that amending the Constitution is necessary to comply with the new regulations. Further details on the proposed changes are expected to be provided in appendices to the report.
Filming at Meetings
The committee will also address the practice of filming at meetings. Attendees are informed that meetings may be filmed or recorded by the Council for broadcast, or by individuals attending the meeting. Members of the public participating in the meeting, such as by making deputations or asking questions, should be aware that they are likely to be filmed. By entering the meeting room, individuals are consenting to being filmed and to the potential use of these recordings. The Chair of the meeting has the discretion to terminate or suspend filming if it is deemed to disrupt proceedings, prejudice the meeting, infringe individual rights, or lead to a breach of a legal obligation by the Council.
Committee Work Programme
The committee's work programme is also scheduled for discussion. This item allows for a review of ongoing and planned activities for the Standards Committee.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at George Meehan House, 294 High Road, N22 8JZ. Members of the public are welcome to attend, and those wishing to speak are advised to register by emailing the Democratic Services Officer. The meeting can also be viewed live online or on the Council's YouTube channel.
The elected members attending are Scott Emery, Mike Hodges, Andrea Hodgson (Chair), Edward Thacker, and Elin Weston. The quorum for the meeting is three members.
