The Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee of Newham Council is scheduled to meet on Monday 10 August 2026. The primary item on the agenda is a decision regarding a temporary street trading licence application for a food truck.
Temporary Street Trading Licence Application
The committee is set to consider an application for a temporary street trading licence for a food truck to be located opposite Canning Town Station, near the A13 flyover. The applicant, Mr Mirza Saeed Baig, has applied to trade from Monday to Thursday between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
The report pack indicates that consultation has been carried out with various council departments, including Highways & Sustainable Transport, ASB & Nuisance Team, Planning Enforcement, Cleansing Team, Neighbourhood Officer, Trading Standards, and the Metropolitan Police. Representations have been received from the Council's Highways & Sustainable Transport Team, who act as the Highways Authority, and these are included in the documentation. The committee will also consider the council's own guidelines relating to street trading stalls when making its determination.
It is noted that there is no right of appeal for decisions made on temporary street trading applications. The committee members will hear the application and make a determination, potentially imposing conditions on any licence granted.
