The committee approved the report, noting a projected deficit balance of £137,229 for the financial year ending March 2027, and discussed strategies to improve the fund's cash position.
Financial Monitoring Report
The committee considered the monitoring report for the three months ending 30 June 2026, which detailed the income and expenditure for the Lauder Common Good Fund. The report indicated a forecast deficit balance of £137,229 by the end of the financial year 2026/27. This deficit is linked to planned capital investment at the Lauder Common Farm site.
The report highlighted that property costs for the period to 30 June 2026 amounted to £1,793, with a total forecast expenditure of £78,400 by 31 March 2027. This expenditure includes £6,364,000 for capital investment at Lauder Common Farm and £13,500 for repairs and maintenance. Rental income for the year is anticipated to be £11,055.
The Aegon Asset Management Investment Fund was valued at £262,107 as of 30 June 2026. The projected investment income for the year is £12,560, with an unrealised gain of £11,593 reported in the first three months of the year, indicating healthy returns and growth.
The committee was asked to note the actual and forecast expenditure for the current and two subsequent financial years, and to consider options for improving the fund's long-term cash position. The report also detailed the approved grant budget, with £1,000 unspent and unallocated at the time of the meeting.
Councillor Jenny Linehan, Councillor John PatonDay, Councillor David Parker (Chair), and Mr Alastair Smith (Lauderdale CC) were in attendance. The meeting was supported by Catriona Ewen (Statutory Reporting and Treasury Business Partner), Gillian Sellar (Principal Solicitor), Josephine Stewart (Estates Strategy Manager), and William Mohieddeen (Democratic Services Officer).
The committee approved the monitoring report, with the Chair, Councillor David Parker, stating, Great excellent thank you very much.
The subcommittee then moved to private business.
