The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Fire Pension Scheme Board was scheduled to meet on Thursday 10 September 2026 to discuss performance data from the West Yorkshire Pension Fund, current issues affecting the scheme, and updates from various oversight bodies. The meeting agenda also included a review of the Board's plan, training records, and risk register.
Performance Data from West Yorkshire Pension Fund
The Board was scheduled to receive an update on pension administration performance from the West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF). The report pack indicated that this update would cover various aspects of administration, including completed work, work in progress, member web registrations, and membership numbers across different fire schemes within Lincolnshire. Specific details on completed processes for May and June 2026 were provided, highlighting areas where targets were met and where there were delays, such as in processing deferred benefits and pension estimates. The report also detailed membership numbers for various Lincolnshire Fire schemes, including the 1992, 2006, 2006/RDS, 2015, and 2015/RDS schemes.
Current Issues
An update was scheduled to be provided by Vicki Sharpe, HR Advisor to the Board, covering a range of current issues. This included a summary of Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure (IDRP) cases, details on any breaches identified, and an update on the Sargeant/McCloud Age Discrimination Remedy. The report pack also indicated that the Matthews and Options Exercise, as well as the Pensions Dashboard, would be discussed. The previous meeting's minutes from 4 June 2026 noted that the Breach Assessment Template was nearing completion and that outstanding cases had reduced.
Updates from Oversight Bodies and Groups
Several updates from external bodies and internal groups were planned. Councillor Alex McGonigle and Mark Baxter, as Employer Representatives, were scheduled to receive an update from the LGA Fire Pensions Oversight Board, presented by Tony Kavanagh, Scheme Manager. Additionally, an update from the Scheme Advisory Board was to be provided by the West Yorkshire Pension Fund. Tracy Chamberlain, Pensions Administration Manager, was expected to provide an update on the last meeting of the Fire Pension Officers' Group.
Fire Pension Board Plan
The Chair was scheduled to provide an update on the Fire Pension Board's Action Plan, Training Record, and Risk Register. The report pack indicated that the year-end return to the Home Office for April 2026 had been completed and submitted. The training plan was reviewed and confirmed as up-to-date, with no additional training requirements identified. The risk register was also considered, with no proposed changes to current risk ratings. Specific risks, such as member data incomplete or inaccurate
(A1) and lack of skilled resources
(A4), were noted for continued monitoring.
Fire Pensions Scheme Bulletins
Vicki Sharpe, HR Advisor to the Board, was scheduled to report on recent Fire Pensions Scheme bulletins. These bulletins typically cover updates on scheme regulations, guidance, and relevant legal or governmental changes affecting pension administration. The report pack highlighted recent bulletins concerning new guidance on member contributions, HM Treasury updates on pension increases and revaluation rates, and updates relating to the McCloud/Sargeant remedy, including proposed legislation and identified calculator errors.
Date of Next Meeting
The date of the next meeting was to be confirmed, with the current schedule indicating a meeting on 3 December 2026.
