Pension Administration Strategy

The committee considered the revised Pension Administration Strategy for the Hammersmith & Fulham Pension Fund. This strategy, now mandatory for all Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)² pension schemes, outlines the roles and responsibilities of the fund and its scheme employers. Key changes in the revised strategy include an increased financial penalty for employers who fail to submit contributions and schedules on time, and the inclusion of data security and cyber security responsibilities for employers. Pension Fund Operational Risk Register

The committee reviewed the Pension Fund Operational Risk Register, which identifies key risks to the pension operations of the Hammersmith & Fulham Pension Fund. The register highlighted risks related to business continuity, technology, financial fraud, regulatory compliance, and the impact of increased technical innovation, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). Mitigation actions are in place for most risks, including robust cyber security measures, regular testing of IT systems, and client management of third-party administrators.
