The Employee Appeals Committee of Manchester Council met on Friday 25 September 2026. The primary purpose of the meeting was to consider an appeal against dismissal by an employee, identified as AA. Due to the personal nature of the information involved, the public was excluded from this part of the proceedings.
Appeal Against Dismissal - AA
The committee was scheduled to consider an appeal lodged by an employee, referred to as AA, against a dismissal. The report pack indicated that this item involved exempt information, as defined by the Local Government Act 19721, meaning the public was excluded from this discussion. The procedure for the hearing involved presentations from both the department representative and the appellant (or their representative), followed by questioning from the committee members. The committee would then deliberate in private before announcing its decision.
The Employee Appeals Committee is responsible for hearing appeals from council employees concerning disciplinary actions. The committee is composed of the Executive Member for the relevant service department (or their deputy) and two other council-appointed members. The meeting's agenda also included standard procedural items such as considering urgent business, appeals against the refusal to allow inspection of background documents, and the declaration of interests by members.
