The Planning Development Management Committee of Aberdeen City Council met on Thursday 20 August 2026. The committee noted the committee business planner and resolved to approve the minutes of the previous Planning Development Management Committee meeting held on 3 July 2026, and the minutes of the Pre-Determination Hearing held on 30 June 2026, as correct records.

Planning Applications Approved

The committee considered and approved several planning applications, all subject to conditions.

Former Baker Hughes Site, Woodside Road, Aberdeen Detailed planning permission was granted for a mixed commercial development at the former Baker Hughes site on Woodside Road, Aberdeen. The development includes a retail food store (class 1A), an electric vehicle charging hub for 16 vehicles, a cafe/restaurant (class 3) with a drive-through, and associated access, servicing, landscaping, and fencing. The application was approved conditionally.

Land At Former Hazlewood Primary School Site, Fernielea Road, Aberdeen Detailed planning permission was approved for a residential development comprising 18 dwelling houses and 6 affordable homes on the Former Hazlewood Primary School Site, Fernielea Road, Aberdeen. The development includes associated infrastructure, access, landscaping, drainage, sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS), and open space, with the demolition of the former school buildings. This application was approved conditionally, subject to a legal agreement.

St Peter's RC Primary School, 74 Dunbar Street, Aberdeen Detailed planning permission was granted for the change of use from class 4 (office) to class 10 (primary school) at St Peter's RC Primary School, 74 Dunbar Street, Aberdeen. The approval includes the erection of an extension, installation of replacement doors, creation and removal of door openings, fencing, gates, a bin store, and a bike rack, along with associated landscaping and parking. A plant area with a sprinkler tank, pump house, and substation will also be created. An additional condition was added requiring the submission and implementation of a schedule of works for the siting of a bus stop on St Machar Drive, including seating, lighting, shelter, raised kerbs, and timetable provision. This condition was added to promote sustainable travel methods. The application was approved conditionally.

Land at Treetops Grove, The Treetops Development, Springfield Road Aberdeen Detailed planning permission was approved, conditionally, for the retrospective erection of a retaining wall and associated landscaping at Treetops Grove, The Treetops Development, Springfield Road Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Local Development Plan Site OP38, Countesswells, Lying West Of Hazlehead Park Between Cults and Kingswells A Section 42 application for a residential-led mixed-use development was approved conditionally, subject to a legal agreement. This application sought the variation of condition 6 (road connection) of planning permission in principle ref. P140438 to allow 1250 residential units to be constructed. The overall development includes approximately 3000 homes, employment, education, retail, leisure, and community uses, along with associated new and upgraded access roads, landscaping, and ancillary engineering works. The site is located at Aberdeen Local Development Plan Site OP38, Countesswells, Lying West Of Hazlehead Park Between Cults and Kingswells.
