The Appointments Committee of Hillingdon Council met on Wednesday 29 May 2024 to discuss and approve changes to the Chief Executive's remuneration and to appoint a new Corporate Director of Place. The meeting, held in Part II, saw decisions made regarding the salary structure of the Chief Executive and the appointment of Karrie Whelan to a key director role.

Chief Executive Remuneration

The committee resolved to regrade the Chief Executive to CEO Grade, Point 8, effective from 1 June 2024. This decision also involved the removal of the current Additional Responsibility Allowance (ARA) payment, which will be amalgamated into the permanent salary. This change was recommended due to the Chief Executive now holding a permanent position. Mr Tony Zaman, the Chief Executive, declared a pecuniary interest in this item and left the room for its duration.

Appointment of Corporate Director of Place

Karrie Whelan was appointed to the post of Corporate Director of Place at Exec' Grade 3, point 10. The committee considered applications and conducted interviews as part of the selection process for this significant role.
