Summary
The Planning Committee of North Lincolnshire Council met on Wednesday 12 June 2024 to discuss various planning applications and related issues. Key decisions included the approval of a residential development in Brigg and the refusal of a planning application for a house in multiple occupation in Scunthorpe.
Residential Development in Brigg
The committee approved planning permission for a residential development (Use Class C3) with associated works, including highways, open space, landscaping, and drainage infrastructure on land off Wrawby Road, Brigg. An objector raised concerns about increased traffic and drainage issues. The agent for the development assured that the new link road and single vehicular access point would mitigate these issues. Councillor C Sherwood suggested reducing the speed limit on Wrawby Road to improve safety. Councillor J Davison proposed additional conditions, including the installation of a pedestrian crossing and financial contributions for a play area.
House in Multiple Occupation in Scunthorpe
The committee refused planning permission for the conversion of a grocery and flat into a 10-bedroom house of multiple occupation (HMO) at 37 Jackson Road, Scunthorpe. Local MP Holly Mumby-Croft and Councillor O’Sullivan raised concerns about overdevelopment, noise, parking issues, and the proximity to a nearby school. Councillor J Davison and Councillor Bell echoed these concerns, citing the negative impact on local residents and the character of the area.
Other Applications
Erection of Nine Dwellings in Barton Upon Humber
The committee approved planning permission for the erection of nine dwellings with associated access road, gardens, and parking areas at Anchor Village, Pasture Road, Barton Upon Humber. Councillor J Davison and Councillor Bell supported the application, noting the acceptable new height and the benefit of clearing up the site.
Equestrian Store/Hay Barn in Belton
Planning permission was granted for the erection of a new equestrian store/hay barn on land to the rear of 99 Westgate Road, Belton. The application was approved in accordance with the officer’s report.
Detached Dwelling and Garage in Winterton
The committee approved planning permission for the erection of a detached dwelling and garage at 151 Northlands Road, Winterton. The decision was made in line with the officer’s recommendations.
