The Appointments Sub-Committee of Elmbridge Council convened to appoint representatives to various outside bodies and charities for the 2024/2025 municipal year. Councillor Simon Waugh was appointed as the chair of the sub-committee. Several reappointments and new appointments were made, including Councillor Jill Coats, Councillor Liz Lano, and Councillor Alex Coombs. The sub-committee also expressed disappointment over the Weybridge Land Charity's decision to remove council representation.

Appointments to Outside Bodies

The sub-committee agreed on several appointments to outside bodies for the 2024/2025 municipal year. Councillor Jill Coats and Councillor Liz Lano were reappointed. Councillor Alex Coombs was reappointed to the Claygate Recreation Ground.

Councillor Backs was appointed to replace Councillor Parker on the Eastland District Systems and Vice-Bureau Trustee Board, alongside Councillor Coats. Councillor Tony Popman and Mrs. Deborah Petty were reappointed to the Noise and Airspace Community Forum.

Councillor Janet Turner was reappointed to the Lower Moll Countryside Management Project Group. Councillor Dodds was reappointed to the County Playing Fields Association, and Councillor Salisbury was appointed to the Museums Consultative Committee, alongside Councillor Claire Bailey.

For the Citizens Advice Elmbridge West, Councillor Kirsty Hewans was reappointed, and Councillor Nick Dodds was appointed to fill the vacancy left by former Councillor Louis Brown. Councillor Salsby was appointed to Homesport Elmbridge, replacing Louis Brown.

Appointment of Nominative Trustees

The sub-committee discussed the appointment of nominative trustees to various charities. Mrs. Maureen Sheldrick was reappointed to the National Schools Foundation for a three-year term ending on 21st June 2027.

Regarding the Weybridge Land Charity, the sub-committee noted with disappointment that the charity had changed its constitution and no longer sought council nominations. Councillor Hilary Butler will remain in office until May 2026. Councillor Tilling expressed concern over the lack of council oversight on the charity, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the land and ensuring the charity's stated purpose is met.
