The Licensing Sub-Committee of Dorset Council met on Friday 21 June 2024 to discuss a new premises licence application for Nina's Bistro at 1 West Street, Wareham, Dorset. The committee approved the application with conditions requested by Dorset Police.
New Premises Licence Application for Nina's Bistro
The primary focus of the meeting was the new premises licence application for Nina's Bistro located at 1 West Street, Wareham, Dorset. The application, detailed in Appendix 1, sought permission to serve alcohol and provide live music.
Conditions Requested by Dorset Police
Dorset Police requested several conditions to be attached to the licence to ensure public safety and prevent crime. These conditions are documented in Appendix 2. The conditions included the installation of CCTV, staff training on the sale of alcohol, and measures to prevent noise disturbance.
The committee discussed these conditions at length. One member highlighted the importance of CCTV, stating, CCTV is crucial for both deterring crime and providing evidence if an incident occurs,
which was supported by the majority of the committee.
Representation from Interested Parties

The applicant responded to these concerns via an email, which is documented in Appendix 3, assuring that measures would be taken to mitigate any disturbances.
Decision
After considering all representations and the conditions requested by Dorset Police, the committee decided to approve the premises licence application for Nina's Bistro with the stipulated conditions. The decision was made to balance the interests of the business with the need to maintain public order and safety.
