December 2, 2024 View on council websiteSummary
The Licensing Sub Committee met to consider an application by the Local Weights and Measures Authority for a review of the Premises Licence of Danials Newsagents, 270 High Street, Wallsend. The committee decided to suspend the licence for three months.
Review of Danials Newsagents Premises Licence
The Local Weights and Measures Authority applied for the review of the Premises Licence of Danials Newsagents. Representations in support of the application were received from Northumbria Police and the Director of Public Health. The committee heard from the applicant, the police, the Director of Public Health, and the Premises Licence Holder. In their decision, the committee said:
The Sub-Committee has grave concerns over the impact on the licensing objectives at this Premises and that this application came very close indeed to a full revocation, but a suspension on this occasion would be proportionate and a deterrent to the irresponsible trading described.
The committee's decision was to suspend the licence for three months.
