The Royston and District Community Forum meeting included presentations about Leisure, Parking charges and updates from Royston Town Council and Hertfordshire County Council. The forum also considered grant applications from local organisations before an open discussion about local issues.
Grant applications from local organisations
Two local organisations applied for grants from the Royston and District Community forum's Community Grant budget, which had £3,427 remaining for the 2024/25 financial year.
Carers in Hertfordshire
Carers in Hertfordshire applied for a grant of £1,393 to contribute to the running costs of their monthly carer support hub at Royston Town Hall. The hub has been running for a year and in that time 32 unpaid carers have attended the Royston hub or live in Royston and attended one of their other hubs in the County. The group were also seeking funding from the Letchworth and Hitchin Community Forums, saying
They are applying for funding towards their carer support hub, based at Royston Town Hall, which is free to unpaid carers. It runs once a month for two hours, offering refreshments, wellbeing and advice activities, and a place for carers to express the ups and downs of caring. The group are seeking a contribution towards the cost of running the hub for 12 months.
Caudwell Youth
Caudwell Youth applied for £1,800 to contribute to the costs of their work supporting at risk young people in the Royston area. They said they were currently working with
five young people in the Royston area
and that

Caudwell Youth were also seeking funding from Hitchin Community forum.
