Lancashire County Council's Employment Committee met to consider whether to exclude the press and public from part of the meeting, and to set a date for their next meeting. The meeting was then scheduled to move into private session to discuss the appointment of a new Chief Executive / Head of Paid Service.

Appointment of a new Chief Executive / Head of Paid Service

The committee were scheduled to hold a private session to consider applications for the role of Chief Executive / Head of Paid Service.

The agenda for the meeting stated that it was:

Not for Publication – Exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act, 1972. It is considered that in all the circumstances of the case the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interests in disclosing the information.

The relevant sections of the Local Government Act 1972 state that information is exempt if it:

1 Information relating to any individual who holds or has held a paid office or employment in connection with the authority’s affairs.
2 Information which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual who has supplied information to, or provided other assistance in confidence to, a local authority— (a)in response to a request made by or on behalf of the authority with a view to its being supplied for the purposes of any function of the authority, or (b)in the circumstances specified in any other enactment as circumstances in which information furnished to an authority in confidence for the purposes of any function of the authority is not to be disclosed.

The next meeting of the committee will be on Tuesday 14 January 2025.
