The meeting of Enfield Council's Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund scheduled for 09 December 2024 was to include a report on the fund's activities in 2023-24 and a proposal for how the funds raised should be distributed to charitable causes. The Trustees were also scheduled to be asked to agree to the Mayor of Enfield's chosen charities for 2024-25.
Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund 2023-24
The Trustees were scheduled to receive a report prepared by Koulla Panaretou, the Mayoral Services Manager for Enfield Council, on the work of the Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund in 2023-24.
The report, titled Officers Report detailing Mayors Charity Account audit
can be found in the meeting pack1.
The report explains that the fund's accounts for 2023-24 had been independently examined by Internal Audit and that no significant concerns had been found. Internal Audit had confirmed that the total amount available for distribution to charities was £24,629.
We confirm that the total amount available for distribution in relation to 2023-24 is £27,045. A total of £2,416 was paid to One Enfield (£1,208) and to Nightingale Cancer Support (£1,208) prior to the year end with the Trustees’ approval. The remaining £24,629 will be distributed following approval of the distribution at the charity’s Annual General Meeting in December 2024.
Distribution of funds 2023-24
A list of proposed distributions of the funds raised in 2023-24 was scheduled to be presented to the meeting for approval.

The following organisations are listed as proposed recipients of donations:
- Nightingale Cancer Support - £8,000
- One 2 One - £8,000
- Geranium Club for the Blind - £1,129
- Tavla Community Centre - £2,000
- Family Based Solutions - £500
- Enfield Carers Centre - £1,000
- Kirkisrak Community Centre - £1,000
- Alevi Federation & Cemevi - £2,000
- Rotary Club (Emma Supple) - £500
- Ordnance Road Food Bank - £500
Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund 2024-25
The Trustees were scheduled to be asked to agree to the Mayor of Enfield's chosen charities for 2024-25.
The list of charities, titled LIST OF CHARITIES 2024-2025
, can be found in the meeting pack3.
The chosen theme for 2024-25 is Domestic Violence and Youth Crime & Violence
and the following organisations are listed as proposed recipients of donations:
- Place of Dreams Global - CIC number 12991664
- Ace Enfield - CIC number 13131376
- Family Based Solutions – Charity Number: 1149383
- Jalalia Jamme Masjeed - Charity Number: 1150491
The Trustees were also scheduled to be asked to note that Cllr Mohammad Islam is one of 25 advisory board members of Jalalia Jamme Masjeed.
In addition to the above, the Mayor also proposed to make donations to smaller local charities in 2024-25.
