Wrexham Council's Environmental Licensing Committee will meet to consider whether to exclude the press and public from parts of its meeting on the 16th of December 2024. If they choose to proceed without the public present, the committee will discuss the conduct of several taxi drivers licensed by the council.

Conduct of Taxi Drivers

The meeting's agenda includes discussion of the conduct of a number of taxi drivers licensed by the council. The committee will consider reports prepared by the council's Chief Officer for Economy and Planning. The reports are not public. However, the agenda for the meeting indicates that the committee may choose to exclude members of the public, and the press, from the meeting during these discussions.

The Proper Officer has determined in considering this report that Paragraph 12 should apply. Her view on the public interest test was that to make this information public would disclose personal data relating to an individual in contravention of the principles of the Data Protection Act.

Paragraph 12 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) allows councils to exclude the press and public from meetings where it is likely that confidential information will be discussed.

Confirmation of Minutes

The committee will also consider the minutes from the meeting of the Environmental Licensing Committee held on 25 November 2024.

The minutes for the meeting on 25 November 2024 show that the committee considered reports on the conduct of several taxi drivers, and applications from people applying for taxi driver licenses.
