The Employment Sub-Committee of Barnet Council will meet to consider the appointment of a new Chief Executive (Head of Paid Service). The meeting will include a discussion of the candidates for the role.

Appointment of Chief Executive

The sub-committee will consider a report on the appointment of a new Chief Executive (Head of Paid Service) for Barnet Council. The report, Employment Sub-Committee appointment of Chief Executive, explains that the previous Chief Executive left the role in June 2024 and an interim appointment was made.

Following the departure of the previous Chief Executive in June 2024, the Council appointed an Interim Chief Executive until such time that a permanent appointment was made.

The report asks the committee to interview candidates from a shortlist that has been compiled.

The post has been advertised on the Council’s website and in a leading industry publication. A search has been carried out by a suitably qualified and experienced executive search agency. A number of applications was received, and a shortlist of suitably-qualified candidates produced with the assistance of a technical adviser.

If the committee decide to recommend a candidate for the position, their recommendation will be considered at a future meeting of the full council.

The Employment Sub-Committee will make a recommendation on the appointment of the Head of Paid Service for approval by Full Council.
