The Sutton Local Committee met on 19 June 2025, and heard from young people about mental health, safety and inclusion as part of a youth takeover. The committee also approved a change to the community representative for the Friends of Seears Park and Perretts Fields and approved funding for ten local organisations and events.
Local Funding Update
The committee approved funding for ten local organisations and events, totalling £7,000. The grants are intended to support community activities and events in the Sutton area.
The following organisations and events received funding:
- Manor Park Friends Group - Manor Park Village Fete: £1,294.00
- Sutton Fx - Dr George Rice Community Garden: £186.00
- Sutton Older Hong Kongers Group: £1,300.00
- Friends of St Nicolas - Heritage Open Days/Black History Month: £220.00
- Friends of Rosehill Park - free family fun day: £1,101.00
- Sutton New Town Community Festival - Community Carolling: £216.00
- Friends of Sutton Green - Summer Fun Day 2025: £1,286.00
- Friends of Sutton Park - Landscape Artist of the Year: £190.00
- Creative Expressive Play for Men: £917.00
- Quarry Park - Annual Tea Party: £290.00
Community Representative
The committee approved a request to amend the appointed Community Representative for the Friends of Seears Park and Perretts Fields. Ed John will replace Shailesh Jani as the Community Representative, and Louise Clarke will be the substitute Community Representative.
Youth Takeover
The committee heard from young people about their concerns and ideas related to mental health, safety, and inclusion in the Sutton area. This youth takeover
provided an opportunity for young people to share their perspectives with the committee and influence local decision-making.

The committee received questions from members of the public, with written responses provided in advance of the meeting and published on the council's website.
