At a meeting of Warwickshire County Council's Portfolio Holder Decisions/Leader Decisions, Councillor Rob Howard, Leader of the Council, approved an amendment to a traffic regulation order. The amendment provides an exemption for emergency services access to The Old Gated Road, Chesterton.

Councillor Rob Howard approved a minor amendment to The Warwickshire County Council (The Old Gated Road, Chesterton) (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) Order 2025 to include an exemption for emergency services access.

The original decision to approve the order was made at a Portfolio Holder meeting on 7 March 2025. At that time, the Portfolio Holder instructed officers to discuss the method of closure with the Parish Council and the local County Councillor. Following this, a meeting took place between officers, Councillor Christopher Kettle, and the Parish Council, where it was agreed to propose the amendment.

The Old Gated Road has a two-way traffic flow on a narrow carriageway, and the introduction of the prohibition of motor vehicles aims to improve road safety and the environment for non-motorised road users.
