The Cheadle Area Committee met to discuss a range of issues, including updates to the Cheadle District Centre Action Plan, proposed traffic regulation orders, and parking objections. The committee recommended that the Cabinet Member for Highways, Parks and Leisure Services approve the advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) and establishment of Toucan/Sparrow crossings at the A34/Cheadle Royal Junction and also recommended that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport Services approves the legal advertising of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), and legal notices for the Toucan/Sparrow/Tiger Crossings for the A34 Improvement Plan for Scheme 8 and 12. Additionally, the committee recommended that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport Services approve the legal advertising of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for Tennyson Road, Cheadle. Finally, the committee was asked to recommend that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport Services give approval to charge for the car parks in this Area Committee that were advertised in the consultation exercise.
A34 Improvement Plans
The committee addressed several aspects of the A34 Improvement Plan, focusing on schemes 6, 8, and 12.
Scheme 6: Cheadle Royal Junction/School Hill
The committee was asked to comment upon proposals for the legal advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to introduce 'No Waiting At Any Time' restrictions on School Hill, Cheadle and legally advertise proposed Toucan1/Sparrow Crossings at the A34/Cheadle Royal Junction. The committee recommended that the Cabinet Member for Highways, Parks and Leisure Services approves the advertisement of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) and establishment of Toucan/Sparrow crossings as set out in Appendix A and on the attached drawings.
Schemes 8 and 12: Eden Park Roundabout and Cycle Route
The committee was asked to consider and comment upon the proposals and to recommend that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport Services approves the legal advertising of the Moving and Static Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), and legal notices for the Toucan/Sparrow/Tiger Crossings set out in Appendix A and attached drawings subject to no objections being received within 21 days from the advertisement date the orders can be made.
Traffic Regulation Order: Tennyson Road, Cheadle
The committee considered a report regarding the extension of an existing Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for 'No Waiting at Any Time' and 'No Loading at Any Time' on Tennyson Road, Cheadle. The committee recommended that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport Services approves the legal advertising of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) set out in Appendix A, and subject to no objections being received within 21 days from the advertisement date, the order can be made.
Free to Charged Parking Objections
The committee was asked to consider a report on the findings of a consultation exercise for the introduction of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), to introduce charges to currently free car parks. The committee was requested to recommend that, in the light of the objections received, the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport Services gives approval to charge for the car parks in this Area Committee that were advertised in the consultation exercise.
Cheadle District Centre Action Plan Update
The committee reviewed the progress in delivering the Cheadle District Centre Action Plan, including recent successes and priorities for the next 6 months. The committee was asked to note the progress made in delivering projects and events, and provide feedback on ideas for priority projects to allocate the UKSPF2 funding to.
Petition - Roundhey, Heald Green
The committee considered a petition signed by 47 signatories regarding road safety, anti-social behaviour and parking enforcement on and around Roundhey, Heald Green.
Progress on Area Committee Decisions
The committee reviewed a report providing an update on the progress of decisions taken by the Area Committee, including its executive Sub Committee. The report detailed the current position on ward flexibility funding, the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust, and delegated budget. The committee was asked to note the report.
