The West London Economic Prosperity Board met to discuss the London Growth Mission, the potential addition of Hillingdon as a member, revisions to the board's procedure rules, and collaboration between West London's local authorities and universities. The board voted in favour of Hillingdon joining the board, and to adopt the revised Function and Procedure Rules. They also agreed to a joint statement of intent to support collaboration between West London boroughs and higher education institutions.
Hillingdon Membership and Procedure Rule Amendments
The board voted to approve the addition of the London Borough of Hillingdon as a member of the West London Economic Prosperity Board. With Hillingdon's membership, the board also voted to adopt updated Function and Procedure Rules to reflect the change in membership and ensure the rules remain up-to-date. According to the report on the matter, these rules dictate how the Joint Committee operates, and any changes must be agreed upon by all members.
Collaboration Between West London Boroughs and Universities
The board agreed to a joint statement of intent to support collaboration between West London boroughs and higher education institutions. The report highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships between West London's local authorities and universities, identifying opportunities to broaden and deepen collaboration for the benefit of West London's communities, businesses and institutions.
The board was asked to note West London's strengths and assets in higher education, as well as existing and future opportunities for collaboration. According to the proposed statement of intent:
West London's universities play a vital role in connecting 'the world's most connected place'. Tens of thousands of students, hundreds of staff and numerous nationally and internationally significant research programmes are a pivotal part of West London's seven boroughs, its 2.1m population, its £70bn economy and its vibrant cultural and historical story.
The document also states that closer collaboration can help make West London more inclusive, productive, resilient and influential.
Appendix A to the report provides an overview of West London's universities, their key strengths, and existing collaborations. This includes:

Appendix B to the report provides an initial outline of specific opportunities for collaboration, including access, participation and outreach, skills, data and analysis, innovation and clusters, advanced manufacturing, creative, digital and tech, and life sciences.
London Growth Mission
The board received an update on the London Growth Mission and provided input on what boroughs might need from this to contribute to delivering the London Growth Plan and the refresh of the London Infrastructure Framework. Mayor Jason Perry, Mayor of Croydon and London Councils Executive Member for London's Future, was invited to attend for this item.
